Worship Service for May 3, 2020

Welcome to NLCF’s online Worship Service for May 3, 2020. Wherever you find yourself this morning, please begin by praying with those you are with. God wants to connect with you today (and everyday), so ask the Lord to help you hear from Him.

READ:
To open our worship, read Psalm 91:1-16 out loud:

Those who live in the shelter of the Most High
    will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
    he is my God, and I trust him.
For he will rescue you from every trap
    and protect you from deadly disease.
He will cover you with his feathers.
    He will shelter you with his wings.
    His faithful promises are your armor and protection.
Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night,
    nor the arrow that flies in the day.
Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness,
    nor the disaster that strikes at midday.
Though a thousand fall at your side,
    though ten thousand are dying around you,
    these evils will not touch you.
Just open your eyes,
    and see how the wicked are punished.
If you make the Lord your refuge,
    if you make the Most High your shelter,
10 no evil will conquer you;
    no plague will come near your home.
11 For he will order his angels
    to protect you wherever you go.
12 They will hold you up with their hands
    so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.
13 You will trample upon lions and cobras;
    you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet!
14 The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me.
    I will protect those who trust in my name.
15 When they call on me, I will answer;
    I will be with them in trouble.
    I will rescue and honor them.
16 I will reward them with a long life
    and give them my salvation.”

SING
To help us worship together, use the following songs to sing to the Lord.

GIVE
If you haven’t done so already, we want to invite you to worship through giving by using our online giving options. Please remember that even when our world is in crisis, the financial needs of the church are still present, and we can still give to God financially as an act of worship and to demonstrate our trust in the Lord.  Click here for more information.

Children’s Feature
Here is a children’s feature by Martha Hamm about obedience!

READ
For our Scripture reading today, please read Psalm 34:4-6 out loud:

I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me.
    He freed me from all my fears.
Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy;
    no shadow of shame will darken their faces.
In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened;
    he saved me from all my troubles.

PRAYER
Ask those you are with what they would like to pray for. In addition to that, please come bring to God the following prayer requests:

– Pray for the people of Fort Vermilion and Fort McMurray, Alberta, who have been displaced from their homes due to flooding.

– Pray For healing for Bill Friesen’s Dad

READ
To close our time of worship, please read Matthew 11:28-30 out loud:

28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
